PGConf Silicon Valley 2015 Financial Recap

The first annual PGConfSV that took place in November 2015 saw a good level of attendance with 270+ registrants, 31 speakers and 9 sponsors. Of course if you missed it you can check out the collection of videos and slides over on the site from last year.

We received very positive feedback on the conference venue, food and the support services, which should help us make future events even better. A few of the highlights from the survey feedback we received from attendees:

  • A number of attendees had been part of other community Postgres conferences including: Postgres Open, PGConf US, PGConf EU, PGCon
  • We also had over 50% of attendees that had not attended a community Postgres conference before
  • Over 90% of attendees expressed a likelihood to attend PGConf SV in 2016, likely due to the high satisfaction we saw of nearly 90% of responses being satisfied with talk quality–a big thanks to all of our speakers who put great effort into their talks.

To give you a little more background on the conference we're sharing the high-level breakdown of the finances for PGConfSV 2015, which points to the fact that to keep the venue, food and support services at a similar level for future events in a sustainable way, we will need to attract more paying attendees and sponsors. This becomes even more crucial as we look to make the future events last three days instead of two based on the feedback we received from the attendees.

We'd like to thank again for all the event sponsors for their valuable contribution this year, and look forward to comments and suggestions from the community to progressively improve the future PGConfSV events.
