Citus is looking for an experienced designer to join the Citus team, where you’ll play an important role in accelerating our growth.

• Do you gravitate to both visual design and interaction design?
• In visual design, do you care a lot about the interplay between graphics and words, and how the the right combination can communicate far more effectively than words alone?
• Do you enjoy collaborating with product marketers and other designers to create compelling marketing content for campaigns and for the web—to raise brand awareness and trigger word of mouth recommendations?
• In interaction design, do you care about making complicated things seem easy for customers?
• Do you enjoy collaborating with product managers and software engineers to deliver improved consoles, dashboards, onboarding flows, notifications, and monitoring features?
• Are you proficient doing web development to bring your design ideas to production?

You will:

• Create compelling visual wireframes, mockups, and finished designs for marketing content on the web and in print, including the website, landing pages, event signage, print collateral, social media graphics, display ads, invitations, stickers, sketchnotes, and infographics.
• Own and evolve the UI of the Citus Cloud Console application to enable our fully-managed database as a service customers to create, manage, and monitor their Citus database formations.
• Sketch and prototype ideas quickly to figure out the right approach—iterating on designs based on feedback from the team—and then work through the details to get to a finished design.
• Work through design projects from beginning to end, from requirements to ideas to wireframes to high-fidelity mockups to development, staging, and production.
• Collaborate with marketers, engineers, PMs, customers, and prospects to understand customer needs and to find ways to delight customers with design.

We’re looking for someone with

• Both visual design and interactive design experience in a B2B or B2C technology company
• Experience designing for websites and marketing content, as well as designing user experiences for apps and products
• Solid web dev experience: proficient with Ruby, Haml, and HTML/CSS/JS. Able to manage and deploy apps and websites. Proficiency with React components, too.
• Experience with responsive design for different types of devices: desktop, tablet, phone.
• Empathy for the needs and pain points of our prospects and customers. Someone who puts customers first.
• Excellent communication skills, able to explain the rationale and tradeoffs behind your design proposals.
• Ability to collaborate effectively with different types of people—including engineers, product managers, and marketers—to solve difficult UI and workflow problems.
• A self starter attitude—if you see something that can add value, you take initiative and dig in.
• 5+ years of design experience in a software technology company (unfortunately we don’t have the resources right now to train and mentor designers who are just starting out.)
